Reflecting on a Year of Environmental Education Success

As we bid farewell to 2023 and embrace the festive season, we’re excited to reflect on the success of our outreach initiative, the WILD HEARTS Environmental Education (EE) program. Collaborating with our esteemed partners, this year has been a journey of discovery, education, and gratitude.

That's a Wrap on a Year of Partnership and Purpose

Our first and foremost partnership, a cornerstone in the WILD HEARTS EE initiative, was forged with Masicorp. Chasmay Pre-primary school served as the canvas for our environmental education pilot, where Tenthouse Structures delivered 21 WILD HEARTS EE lessons to Grade 00 children aged 4 – 5 years. Designed by a teacher for teachers within Tenthouse Structures, the program found its wings with the Masicorp children. This collaboration wasn't just about sharing knowledge; it was about creating an engaged audience, using the children as catalysts for change. Together, we embarked on the program, affirming our commitment to shaping young minds for a sustainable future. A special thank you goes to MASICORP and their amazing teachers.

Empowering Beyond Borders

Tenthouse Structures expanded the reach of the WILD HEARTS EE program by partnering with the Timbavati Foundation. This unique collaboration witnessed Tenthouse Structures training Timbavati Foundation facilitators on program delivery. The online pilot project at Beretta Primary in Mpumalanga marked a significant milestone.

The Timbavati Foundation educators excelled in implementing WILD HEARTS EE. Transforming knowledge into engaging lessons, they created an environment where young minds flourished into eco-conscious individuals. Their commitment serves as a beacon of inspiration, demonstrating the transformative power when knowledge aligns with passion, and dedication meets commitment.

Tenthouse Structures expresses profound gratitude to the Timbavati Foundation, recognizing their success as a testament to the efficacy of WILD HEARTS EE and a celebration of collective action toward a sustainable future.

Celebrating Sustainable Futures

The importance of environmental education cannot be overstated, and the role of young children in shaping a sustainable future is paramount. Through WILD HEARTS EE, we not only impart knowledge but also cultivate a deep-rooted connection to the natural world. By instilling a love for nature, we are nurturing the first line of defence for South Africa's wildlife in these young minds. These children are not just learners; they are the future custodians of the environment, entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the rich biodiversity that graces our land. Witnessing the enthusiasm with which these young minds absorb the lessons is truly heartening, as they grasp the significance of their role as the torchbearers of a greener, more sustainable world. In empowering them with a sense of responsibility, we are sowing the seeds for a generation dedicated to preserving and cherishing the delicate balance of our ecosystems.

Welcoming 2024 with Open Arms

As we wrap up 2023 with gratitude, we eagerly anticipate the coming year. Sincere thanks to Masicorp and the Timbavati Foundation for their unwavering support and dedication and we know our collaboration will continue to be a prosperous one in 2024. Looking ahead, Tenthouse Structures is excited to welcome new affiliated partners in 2024, Africa Foundation, Department of Agriculture Rural Land Development and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) Mpumalanga, Eco-Rangers, Global Conservation Corps (GCC), and South African Education Project (SAEP). Together, let's continue to build a future where environmental education is not just a program but a way of life. Here's to a bright, hopeful, and sustainable future for all. That's a wrap on 2023 – the prologue to a story of collaboration and change.
