THE MOMBO AND LITTLE MOMBO TEXTILE ARCHITECTURE SOLUTION
SITE LOCATION: Okavango Delta, Botswana
Mombo, and Little Mombo are tucked into the belly of Africa’s majestic Okavango Delta, located in the Delta’s renowned Moremi Game Reserve in the north-eastern corner of Chief’s Island.
SCOPE OF WORK
Turnkey Textile Architects & Engineers
Tenthouse Structures design-engineered, supplied, and installed forty-eight independent tensile roof structures covering three main precincts, twelve accommodation units, and one family villa. In addition, demo units were built by the team to ensure precise engineering, positioning, and seamless installation on-site.
The successful rebuild of Mombo and Little Mombo was the culmination of a year of intensive planning, and technical engineering, followed by another of complex manufacturing and intensive project management. The world-class tensile roof solution championed the aesthetic vision of the client, met the technically challenging performance requirements of the delta site, resulting in a low-impact design, in harmony with the surrounding environment.
