PHINDA PERFECTION
INTIMATE LUXURY LODGE IN KWA-ZULU NATAL
SITE LOCATION: Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa
In the Phinda Private Game Reserve, which spreads over more than 28 000 hectares of protected wildlife land in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Phinda Rock Lodge’s six luxurious and private suites occupy a dramatic cliff face location overlooking the impressive Leopard Rock.
SCOPE OF WORK
Textile Architecture & Engineering
Tenthouse Structures designed, supplied, and installed signature shade canopies for six accommodation suites and the main area.
The steep slope and unique architecture of Phinda Rock Lodge are ideal for Tenthouse Structures’ flexible membrane technology.
The versatile, flexible fabric allowed for on-site manipulation during installation; and precise positioning to get the best protection from the elements while maintaining the aesthetic balance with the surrounding bush.
The textured canopies juxtaposed against the organic curves of the rugged mud-packed walls transformed the entire property and brought harmony between the positive and negative spaces that extended seamlessly into the forest canopy.
